ojtěch Horálek was born on 14 June 1983 in Prague. In the years 1998-2004, he studied at the Higher Vocational School of Arts and Crafts in Prague, majoring in wood carving, shaping and restoration. In 2010, he graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, majoring in painting, studio doc. Michael Rittstein. As can be seen from the date of birth, Horálek belongs to the younger generation of domestic artists, where somewhat unconventionally, given the significant progress of virtual technology, Horálek remains faithful to classical painting techniques, which are also dominant in his work. Horálek mostly draws his inspiration from his hobbies, the surroundings of his residence and his family, which is strongly artistically based. One of its typological elements is the composition of fragments of reality into a synthetic whole, in which a complex structure of image and meaning play is subsequently formed. Part of his works is dedicated to France, where Horálek studied for a while and drew inspiration, especially from the spontaneous life there in the marketplaces. The paintings of Vojtěch Horálek thus represent a distinct position in the current Czech art scene. Its foundations are based on the local environment combined with the dialogue of the beginnings of modern painting.
"Even though it might seem that fine art has completely moved into the realm of virtual electronics, or stuck to the level of a social act, surprisingly, striking works created in some of the traditional media are still being created in our surroundings. Despite the fact that the artists of the new figuration tendency of the 1970s and 1980s formulated almost exhaustive possibilities for working with this theme in painting, personalities still appear on the Czech scene who are capable of a distinctive, exceptional and contemporary expression.
