Václav Bláha was born on April 1, 1949 in Prague. He graduated from the Václav Hollar Secondary School (1964–1968) and then the AVU in Prague (1968–1974), where he attended the monumental painting studio of professor Paderlík.
In his works, he mainly works with light and shadows, he uses part of his inspiration from the current environment that surrounds him during his work. In the works of Václav Bláha, you can often come across structural painting, which is one of his favorite techniques. The central motif of Bláh's work is the human figure and space, the situation of man in community and in complete solitude.
Bláha is one of the co-founders of the free group 12/15 Late, but late (founded 1987), bringing together artists who entered the art scene in the 1970s during the unfavorable period of normalization.
Bláha has been exhibiting since 1973, and his works have been exhibited, for example, in the United States, Finland, Germany, Slovakia, Denmark, Austria, England, France and Holland. In the Czech Republic, his works are represented, for example, in the National Gallery in Prague, the Alšov South Bohemian Gallery in Hluboká nad Vltavou or the Gallery of the Central Bohemian Region in Kutná Hora.
